What to expect at your appointment
Before your appointment, you will be sent a brief health questionnaire – this will help us to start build a picture of you, and your health goals.
During the appointment, our chiropractor will ask questions about your presenting condition and any clarify any further information from your health questionnaire. This will help your chiropractor to gain a deeper understanding of your problem and how it is affecting your daily life.
Once consent has been given, a physical examination will be undertaken. It is best to wear light clothing; however, it may be necessary to undress down to your underwear depending on the area being treated. A gown will be provided for you to wear if you prefer. The examination will involve a range of appropriate orthopaedic and neurological tests and range of motion examination. Please feel free to ask any questions during this process.
After the examination, our chiropractor will explain any results and discuss a care plan with you, any risks, and the proposed treatment. With consent, and if no contraindications or need for a GP referral the chiropractor will offer you a treatment that will last between 20-30 minutes.
After the treatment, after-care advice will be provided along with some basic exercises. A new patient consultation takes around 60 minutes. All subsequent appointments will be 30 minutes.
The initial aim of the care plan will be to get you out of pain, most people generally find that this is between 2-6 appointments, however, every patient is different. I always encourage feedback regarding your treatment, to ensure that you are happy with your treatment and progress.
The long-term aim of chiropractic care is to prevent issues from recurring. Many patients decide to have regular care on a wellness basis.
