Movement reminder

As winter sets in, it’s natural to slow down, cozy up, and move less. But sometimes, we forget that our bodies thrive on movement. One key issue with reduced physical activity is an increase in stiffness, aches, and pains—especially in our joints and muscles.

When we’re less active, blood flow to our joints decreases, limiting the delivery of nutrients and slowing down recovery. The good news? We don’t need to commit to a full workout or train for a marathon to feel better. Small, consistent movements can make a big difference.

Here are a few simple ways to stay mobile:

  • Joint mobilisations: Move each joint in circles, or gently flex and extend.

  • Stretch or strengthen: Try a few gentle exercises while waiting for the kettle to boil.

  • Functional habits: As one of my uni lecturers used to say—squat while brushing your teeth!

Let’s keep moving, even in the chill. For further help or ideas, feel free to comment below.
