What should I wear to my new patient appointment?

Most people who book a new patient appointment ask what they should wear — or they arrive with a bag full of clothes “just in case”. You’re not alone. It’s a really common worry.

At Key Wellness, the most important thing is that you feel relaxed and comfortable. If your body feels tense or restricted, the healing process takes longer.

Wear Something You Can Move In

Your new patient assessment involves gentle movement and different positions, so clothing that allows you to move freely is ideal.

Things like:

  • Leggings

  • Joggers

  • Soft, comfy trousers

  • Comfortable tops

  • Anything you’d happily stretch or walk in are perfect.

If you can lift your knee, twist gently, or take a deep breath comfortably, your outfit is perfect.

Clothing That Can Make Things Tricky

Some clothes restrict movement or make it harder to assess how your body is functioning.

These can get in the way:

  • Tight jeans

  • Restrictive skirts

  • Thick Aran jumpers

You don’t need to dress like you’re going to the gym, but please avoid anything stiff or restrictive.

Do You Need to Remove Clothing?

For chiropractic, you generally stay fully clothed. If there is ever a clinical need, or if you’re coming in for a massage then we’ll discuss it together at the time. You’re always in control, and nothing happens without your consent.

The Bottom Line

Wear something comfortable. Wear something you can move in. Wear something that helps you feel at ease.

Your comfort helps your nervous system settle.

If you’re ever unsure, just ask. I’m always happy to guide you.
