What Does a Chiropractic Session at Key Wellness Actually Involve?

After understanding the safety of chiropractic, the next question most people ask is: “What actually happens in a session?”

Let’s walk through it clearly, calmly, and without any jargon.

Your Initial Consultation: A Fact‑Finding Mission for both of us

Before your appointment, you’ll complete a health questionnaire so I can understand your background and any important medical details.

During the session, we’ll talk about:

  • Why you have come to the clinic

  • Your health goals

  • Your symptoms

  • Anything else you feel is relevant

This conversation helps us to build a full picture of what your body needs.

Orthopaedic and neurological testing

Next, we carry out gentle orthopaedic and neurological tests. These help us understand how your joints, muscles, and nervous system are functioning.

I explain each test before we do it so nothing feels unexpected, we also do the testing on the side that doesn't cause pain first.

Your findings and recommendations

Once we’ve gathered all the information, we discuss:

  • What we’ve found

  • What it means

  • What I recommend

  • Whether treatment is appropriate that day

If treatment is needed, we go ahead gently and calmly, followed by simple after‑care advice to support your body’s response.

Follow‑Up Sessions: 30 Minutes of Focused, Personalised Care

Your follow‑up appointments last 30 minutes and include:

1. A check‑in

We talk about:

  • How you have been feeling

  • Any changes since your last session

  • How you have been finding your exercises

  • What’s improving or still challenging

2. A quick review of any positive tests

This helps us track your progress and see how your body is adapting.

3. Treatment

Treatment usually includes a blend of:

  • Gentle McTimoney chiropractic

  • Soft tissue work

  • Movement or breath guidance

Everything is adapted to your comfort, mobility, and goals.

4. Updated exercises

As you progress, your exercises may shift from stretching to strengthening and stabilising. Your plan evolves with you, nothing is fixed or rigid.
