Why Do We Give Home Exercises as Part of Your Treatment?

One of the most common surprises people have when they come to the clinic is discovering that treatment doesn’t end when the session does. Alongside hands‑on work, we often give home exercises, these are usually simple yoga poses (asana), chosen to support your recovery between appointments.

This isn’t about giving you extra things to do; it’s about helping your body continue the progress we start together.

Why Home Exercises Matter

During a session, your body can only take in a certain amount of treatment. Muscles, joints, and the nervous system all have their limits. Home exercises bridge the gap by helping you:

  • Gently relax tight or overworked muscles

  • Improve your range of motion

  • Build confidence in moving again

  • Calm and regulate your nervous system

  • Build strength

These small, consistent movements often make the biggest difference in how you feel day to day.

Tailored to Your Body

Not every exercise suits every person, this is why we run through them in our sessions, and why we customise them. If a pose doesn’t work for you, we adapt it. That might mean changing a position from being on all fours to sitting or standing. The goal is always the same: to make sure the exercise is achievable, safe, and helpful for your body.

Tools You Can Keep for Life

Think of these exercises as part of your toolkit. They’re yours to keep, and they give you the ability to manage your condition long after your treatment plan ends. The more you understand your body and how to support it, the more empowered you become in your own healing.
